I need advice please

I am old FMG and preparing for Step 1, I dont have any USCE, I'd like to know when I can apply for observerships or externship? which one is better? How long it should be?
and where I can apply in Washington State?

please help me to find answer for these questions?

You can apply even without steps passed. However, do account for how long will you need for passing the steps, so that your externship is not too old by the time you start applying for residency.

Externship is definitely better as this is a hands on experience - opposite to Obserership where you can only observe.
